Podcasts
From ColinWarrenWiki
The 'podcast'; well, what can I say? Generally an audio file but also available as multi-media, that can made available in such a way that people can automatically subscribe to a 'feed' which notifies a new 'episode'.
Firstly, I'm disappointed that this medium have been given the moniker that doesn't really do it justice.
Secondly, the name doesn't reflect the potential of what's possible with the medium (a multi-media extraveganza is possible).
Thirdly, I'm probably making too much of the name and could focus more on the possibilities.
If you've got something to say, a 'podcast' is a great way to get your message across. You production is only hampered by your imagination and skill in putting it all together. Garageband (part of the Mac iLife suite) will help you develop a good quality production in no time and you'll have a cross platform artefact. These files are generally a .mp3 for audio or .mp4 for multi-media/video and playable in a media player that could be an iPod, in iTunes itself or any multi-media player (hardware or software).

Many of these can be subscribed too and automatically (or manually) downloaded when new programs become available. Visiting the iTunes store and subscribing to podcasts is easy, but take care that you don't let the software download everything as your internet usage will increase substantially. There are other applications that can help you subscribe and manage your podcasts - do a search on google to find some like 'iPodder' and 'juice'.
